Universal’s theme parks have teamed up with sandbox game Minecraft after Disney announced a partnership with Fortnite developer Epic Games just last week.

The new virtual theme park – dubbed ‘Minecraft x Universal Studios DLC [downloadable content] Experience’ – is designed to bring some of Universal’s popular rides and experiences into Minecraft users’ homes.

It contains attractions inspired by those at sites such as Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando, Universal Beijing, Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore.

“Our collaboration with Minecraft over the past four years has enabled fans and game players alike to adventure, craft, build, and create in worlds highlighting favorite franchises from Jurassic World to How to Train Your Dragon and beyond,” said Bill Kispert, senior VP and general manager of game and digital platforms, Universal Products & Experiences.

“This new offering is our biggest and most detailed Minecraft map yet and invites fans into a virtual Universal Studios theme park featuring beloved attractions and experiences – present and past – inspired by Universal Destinations & Experiences around the world.”

The new Minecraft world is home to eight different islands – Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Amity Island, Hill Valley, Lower Lot, Jurassic World and Skull Island.
