Shinsegae Group announced on Thursday its collaboration with the U.S. media conglomerate Paramount Global to develop a large-scale theme park in South Korea.

The two companies intend to establish the Hwaseong International Theme Park in Hwaseong, located 45 kilometers south of Seoul. This park will feature a variety of entertainment facilities, hotels, resorts, and residential complexes, as stated by the group.

Shinsegae plans to secure the necessary approvals for the “Star Bay City” project from the Gyeonggi provincial government, with the goal of launching the 4.2 million-square-meter theme park by 2029. According to the statement, Paramount Global, which owns CBS, the cable network MTV, and the film studio Paramount Pictures, will be involved in the planning of the theme park.
