JUKEBOXES: Sound Leisure seals Sgt Pepper deal

Industry veteran Mike Ansell of Lordsvale/Jingle Games has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with The Beatles’ company Apple Corps for a Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club-themed jukebox.

The limited edition jukebox will be manufactured by Sound Leisure and will be based on the company’s unique vinyl playing Rocket machine.

The Beatles album celebrated its 50th Anniversary this year. It was the first rock LP to win four Grammy Awards in 1968 and contained some of the most well-known Beatles tracks, including With A Little Help From My Friends and Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds.

Jingle Games will distribute the machine in the UK with Sound Leisure handling all the export orders with their distribution partners.

Mike Ansell said: “ I am very pleased to be working with Sound Leisure once again, it’s sixteen years since they manufactured the first Beatles jukebox for Lordsvale, which was the Yellow Submarine. The Yellow Submarine has since become a highly collectable sought after jukebox.”

Chris Black, MD of Sound Leisure added: “ It has been a fantastic experience working with Mike and the Apple Corps team again, I believe that we have collectively created a machine that without doubt captures and celebrates this moment in time. Due to the machine being based on our vinyl playing platform, The Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Jukebox is probably the most exclusive jukebox ever to be produced.”
