Creative Works boosts Playzone laser offering

Mayan-themed arena installed at Ohio FEC

Ohio-based entertainment facility Playzone, hired Creative Works to install an immersive laser tag experience.
The firm was also commissioned to provide additional theming throughout the entertainment centre.

“Mike [Tawil, owner] decided that he wanted to do this family entertainment centre,” said Creative Works creative experience broker, Marsha Brentlinger. “It took him a long time to do so, but Playzone is doing really well now that everything is up and running.”

The 2,500-square-foot, single-level arena takes players to a once-inhabited Mayan temple in the heart of the jungle. Players are surrounded by intricate, hand-painted murals of junglescapes and waterfalls lining the arena walls. In addition to the stone walls that players must manoeuvre through, the arena features several large stone masks and other Mayan relics within the space. The tops of the stone walls are sporting an abundance of florescent greenery and log props, one of which features a jaguar on the hunt.

Outside of the laser tag arena, Creative Works continued to add jungle themed elements to Playzone. During multiple overseas trips, Tawil had purchased various vines and other hanging props that he wanted to incorporate into his space. With this in mind, the Creative Works team added more hand-painted mural work of stone and forestry to the lobby and individual party rooms.

Playzone opened its doors to the public on 2nd September 2017.
