HIGH ROPES: Ropes Courses on board for MSC
High ropes specialist, Ropes Courses, is continuing to make inroads into the cruise line market, installing its Sky Trail ropes courses for three of the largest cruise companies in the world including Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Corporation and most recently, MSC Cruises.
MSC Cruises began working with Ropes Courses’ partner, WhiteWater West Industries, on the purchase of a Sky Trail Expedition ropes course in 2015. The course was fully designed, engineered and fabricated at Ropes Courses’ plant in Michigan before it’s 2017 installation on the brand new MSC Meraviglia cruise ship.
The Sky Trail Expedition is named ‘Himalayan Bridge’ and is made up of 12 poles and two linear paths of elements that can support 30 participants at any given time. The course is suspended over a portion of the Polar Aqua Park and rear sundeck. It’s linear design and circular system entices participants to traverse through each of the 12 elements before returning to the starting point. Participants balance on elements nearly 200 feet above sea level.
“We’re very excited to have played a part in such a magnificent ocean vessel. It’s a tremendous feeling to know Sky Trail ropes courses can deliver thrills to families across the world in a variety of environments, including the MSC Meraviglia,” remarked Marissa Ticknor, Ropes Courses, sales manager.
Meraviglia has a number of additional features including a water park, sportplex, a 4D cinema, a Cirque du Soleil show Amphitheatre, race car simulators, and bowling alley.
The ship will sail initially in the western Mediterranean this summer with stops in France, Italy, Malta and Spain before embarking to parts of Northern Europe in 2018 and America in 2019.
