The £4 million investment will create 25 new local jobs and breathe new life into the former Wilko store, which has been transformed into a flagship family entertainment centre (FEC) and a landmark venue for the town centre.

The venue will also debut Europe’s first ICEE Slush Rush machine, a unique interactive experience from Bay Tek Entertainment, alongside a 12-person private karaoke room and an arcade line-up featuring UK-first machines not yet operated elsewhere in the country.

Urban Fun’s s Gamergreen digital redemption system enables guests to win tickets, redeem prizesonline, and have prizes delivered directly to their door via Amazon Prime.

Matthew Deith, managing director of Funbox Entertainment, said: “Urban Fun Kingston is about creating unforgettable moments for everyone, whether you’re coming with family, colleagues or friends. The arcade offer is central to that.

“We’re showcasing how the best of arcade amusements and cutting-edge interactive play can sit side by side, encouraging people to play longer, return more often, and enjoy a complete entertainment experience.

“Kingston is just the start of a nationwide rollout for our next-generation FEC model.”

Designed as a multi-experiential social hub, Urban Fun features dedicated zones for amusements, socialplay, and food and drink, supported by two vibrant bars, a premium menu, and live Sky and TNT Sportscoverage across multiple screens, making it a one-stop destination for both daytime and evening leisure.

Kirsten Henly, chief executive of Kingston First, added: “The opening of Urban Fun is a huge win for Kingston town centre. Urban Fun not only creates jobs and brings new life to the high street but also gives residents and visitors another brilliant reason to come together and enjoy everything our town has to offer.”
