FEC: Facelift as Fun-Land adds climbing wall

Fredericksburg’s Central Park Fun-Land is getting a $1m facelift for its 20th anniversary.

The indoor/outdoor family fun center in Fredericksburg has been  revamped with new rides, arcade games and other attractions over the past 18 months.

More than $1 million has gone into the renovation this year, according to Charles Peitz, the centre’s managing partner.

Fun-Land opened in 1997. Its 40,000-square-foot building sits on seven acres and initially opened with go-karts, an 18-hole mini-golf course, batting cages and bumper cars. New rides and attractions were added outside in 2010.

It now has more than 20 rides and attractions including an expanding mini-bowling alley and an arcade with more than 100 video, ticket and prize games plus nine party rooms.

The centre will be adding Clip ‘n Climb, a new climbing experience by the end of the year, with several different climbing walls with challenges such as a two-sided, clear Plexiglass wall so climbers can compete face to face.

“It’s really a rock climbing wall on steroids,” Peitz said.
