Custom fragrance designed for new figure at Madame Tussauds Blackpool

Madame Tussauds Blackpool has launched a new wax figure of YouTube gamer DanTDM—with a brand new sensory dimension.

For the first time ever at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, a specially bespoke scent has been designed to accompany a celebrity figure. Themed smell company AromaPrime was commissioned to concoct the essence, designed to enhance immersion for fans meeting their idol.

The fragrance, named Eau De Gamer, includes organic elements to reflect the grass and earth in the game Minecraft (which DanTDM is known for playing)—there are even spicy notes inspired by the game’s lava! These come through with a hint of a deodorant essence, evoking the traditional bedroom setting of YouTubers and gamers. A marine freshness is included as a subliminal trick to bring about the colour blue in visitor’s minds, as this colour is often used in DanTDM’s branding. Finally, hints of sweetness are used to appeal to the star’s young audience, and to draw people towards the figure.

Madame Tussauds Blackpool has carefully recreated DanTDM’s home studio, with replica props, game music, screens with videos playing, and audio recordings from Dan himself. The addition of a scent, which emphasises everything Dan represents, completes the truly immersive, multi-sensory and personal meeting.

Liam R. Findlay, themed scent consultant at AromaPrime, said: “Our smell receptors are directly connected to the part of the brain which processes memories and emotions, so this aroma will make the experience of meeting DanTDM incredibly emotive and memorable for fans … even if they don’t realise it! Madame Tussauds Blackpool has done an outstanding job at recreating Dan’s likeness and his fun studio. Visitors will love it!”

Stuart Jarman, general manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, said: “It’s a lovely smell, and it really helps bring the room to life, creating a fantastic, immersive experience for every guest.”
