BoldMove had officially unveiled its first dark ride vehicle at the IAAPA Expo in Amsterdam, meticulously crafted to enhance the visitor experience. This development aligns seamlessly with the company’s core principles, which emphasize the integration of intelligent engineering, imaginative design, and a focus on visitor satisfaction, all while ensuring ease of operation and minimal maintenance.
The team has employed a combination of established and cutting-edge ride technology to produce a themed vehicle that embodies its ambitious vision for dark rides, surpassing any current offerings in the market. Featuring an omnidirectional wheel system, the vehicle prioritizes comfortable seating and agile movements, significantly enriching the overall experience. Benoit Cornet, BoldMove’s CEO, has built many awarded dark rides in his career which were always limited in creativity by the restrictions and rigidness of available ride systems.
He comments:
“Many of the current vehicles are designed in function of small haunted houses or huge dark rides so they are not always fitting our requirements. Customization in design to improve seating comfort and theming was either impossible or very expensive. Also the software to drive the ride and gameplay with projections did not align very well. We are very happy to add this last missing piece in our dark ride design to offer a complete turnkey solution from experience design and theming up to the final installation, whereby all components are fully synchronized.”
Omnidirectional ride system
The innovative ride system employs advanced wheel technology that has been successfully utilized in high-demand industries for many years, ensuring exceptional reliability and sophistication. This omnidirectional vehicle is capable of executing a limitless range of movements and experiences, including skidding, drifting, and rotating, as well as lateral movements. The design of the vehicle is more compact due to the removal of the traditional axis of rotation, thereby maximizing available space for theming and additional equipment.
By incorporating trackless technology equipped with sensors, the system eliminates the need for rails or cables on the ground, facilitating installation around obstacles such as pillars and corners while maintaining flexibility in space usage. The ride system continuously monitors the positions of the vehicles during operation, allowing for seamless route modifications to enhance the overall experience. From both operational and safety standpoints, this system presents an optimal solution, permitting the swift addition or removal of vehicles and straightforward wheel replacements. The integrated battery utilizes cutting-edge lithium iron technology and automatically recharges while the vehicle remains on the circuit.
Turnkey family coasters and dark rides for every park
Every amusement park now has the opportunity to select a family coaster, dark ride, or walkthrough that aligns seamlessly with its target audience, infrastructure, and thematic elements. Each ride is equipped with a specially designed vehicle and an advanced ride system aimed at optimizing operations in a manner that is both inclusive and sustainable. All attractions can be developed as comprehensive turnkey solutions, encompassing design, engineering, architecture, storytelling, media, ride systems, and extending to production and marketing. BoldMove is featuring its interactive Smash & Reload family dark ride at the booth, which was developed in partnership with Triotech for Le PAL in France. This acclaimed ride has received the esteemed IAAPA Brass Ring Award. It is offered in multiple formats to accommodate existing, compact structures, capable of entertaining up to 600 guests through engaging gameplay on large screens. The attraction is richly themed and can now incorporate BoldMove’s specialized trackless vehicle for an even more immersive experience.
Uniting the best of two worlds
Spinfinity Coaster combines the immersive experience of a themed dark ride with the exhilarating dynamics of a roller coaster. It is designed to cater to a wide range of guests, from children measuring 90 cm to adults aged 90 years. This essential attraction was introduced to the market this summer, featuring an innovative vehicle design that allows riders to face one another, enhancing the shared thrill of the experience. The team of creative and engineering professionals has meticulously managed every aspect of the project, ensuring a harmonious balance between track design, movements, media integration, and thematic elements to achieve an optimal blend of enjoyment and sophistication. Guests can experience a distinctive combination of roller coaster thrills, including boomerang and shuttle movements, along with an indoor themed media experience that presents multiple scenarios during each ride.
Following the successful debut of the 175-meter-long “dark coaster” variant of the attraction, BoldMove, in collaboration with its partner E&S Rides, is now unveiling a 300-meter-long, faster, and entirely outdoor version, complete with a complementary “pirates/exotic” design package. This new ride, named Spinfinity, adheres to the highest safety standards, including EN13814 for design and EN1090 EXC3 for construction. Additionally, Spinfinity offers significant advantages in terms of maintenance and energy efficiency. A notable feature is the implementation of Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) technology, which presents a cost-effective alternative. This system is more economical than comparable technologies and significantly lowers energy consumption through efficient energy storage management. The decreased connected load also permits the use of smaller electrical cable sections, thereby enhancing cost savings and overall efficiency.
Special rides from small to extra-large
The FUSION dark ride concept introduces an innovative approach to interactivity, characterized by elaborate theming and a capacity of approximately 800 guests per hour. For amusement parks seeking an alternative interactive experience, the team presents Double Down, which merges two distinct experiences into one. The attraction commences with an interactive walkthrough that includes engaging games, where guests are tasked with preparing for an exhilarating journey in their themed vehicles.
Raptor Expedition and WaterSlider VR represent two thrilling ‘Specialty Rides’, delivering a richly themed experience complemented by enjoyable gameplay and impressive special effects. The team oversees all aspects of theming design and the production of mazes, suitable for both permanent installations and temporary setups during Halloween.
